                              Sutras Summary

Patanjalis Yoga Sutras contain 5 basic categories of information:

1: Definition of Yoga

2: Descriptions of practices that lead to "Yoga"

3: The results or effects of those practices

4: Various obstacles or afflictions that interfere with practice

5: Philosophical models of the structure, nature and evolution of reality.

Practices fall into 2 basic categories: Discipline and Surrender

Discipline:    Abhyasa: sutra I-12 - I-14, I-32

                  and the following sub categories:

                       tapas: sutras II-1, II-32, II-43

                       svadhyaya: sutras II-1, II-32, II-44

                       asana: sutras II-46, II-47, II-48
